We are proud to announce the Winner of the 6th edition of Haute Normandie, Kirby Ussery.
It has been non-stop celebration at Cloud Atlas headquarters after a tense final stage where Kirby Ussery was virtually tied with Squiffinator’s Bret Brunton for first place of the tour. The uncertainty finally was drowned by the cheers of the fans as Kirby crossed the finish line in third place, enough time ahead of the peloton to distance himself from Brunton and YCO’s Raivis Rukmans.
This historic win for the team did not seem possible just a few days earlier. The first blow was the wrist injury to Romao Rocha just before the tour. Rocha is a new acquisition and a top Cobble captain in his own right brought in exactly to make sure we had a top competing team that could give Kirby a chance to win.
After this injury and a horrible time trial first stage by Ussery, all hope of a top finish was lost and there was talk by the managers of giving the last sprint stage to Oscar Wieringh, who was on top form and hope for individual race success.
Kirby did not give up however and mounted an intensive attack all throughout the Le Havre – Dieppe king stage to win comfortably the race and gain back enough time to make second place in the general qualification. He did not stop there and had a great race again the following day grabbing the virtual first place.
All this results now in the team’s first tour jersey and bringing Kirby finally a success to write into the history books.
